Guests overwhelmingly praise the Sundial Lodge's unbeatable location near ski lifts and amenities, making it ideal for families and skiers, though several recent reviews cite maintenance issues, dirty rooms, and rising parking fees.
This location is absolutely perfect. Very convenient, clean rooms, great for family. Highly recommend!
No snow late January beautiful view from or room. Charge extra $35 a day for parking structure under complex that leads straight to room elevator.
Overall it’s very good experience. Rooms are clean, staff are helpful. They have a complementary ski and boots valet/storage that the guys made very efficient and effective. Location is literally just steps to the main lifts and gondolas, and since it’s in the “village” coffee, food, and many other amenities are right outside the doorstep.
Even though there is now free parking at the at the village, sundial uses a parking garage that increased its rate to $35 in September. Sundial apparently doesn’t care And says they don’t have any control over it even though it is stated that the parking garage is only for sundial Lodge. Maybe they have sold off the parking as a profit center with the idea that no one will notice that they’re getting gouged on parking. But I will not go to sundial again if they don’t protect their customers, and in this regard, they don’t even care about their customers.
I visited over Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed my stay. The location and amenities were excellent. The only downside was the $25 per day fee for underground parking—ouch! If you don’t budget for it in advance, it can definitely add up and increase your overall cost.
Excellent place for family or business trips. The views are amazing, rooms are very nice and still very up to date.
Booked through their website which seems to be managed by a third party because no one seemed to know what was going on. When we arrived the code for the lock box with our keys in it didn’t work. We tried to get someone at reception to help us and they just tried to open every box with no luck, the text support line never responded. After 30 minutes I finally happened to guess the right code for the box and got our keys. At checkout, we went to drop off our keys at the front desk since communication hadn’t been clear up to that point we wanted to make sure the right person got them. When we went to the lobby to figure out where to leave them, we handed them to the lady at the desk was extremely rude and sarcastic instead of being helpful during a confusing checkout.
The sundial lodge is located in a great spot in the heart of Park City only about 10-15 min drive to Main St. They sit right next to a ski lift and have tons of entertainment around the area. Unfortunately, the good news ends there. The rooms are old and dusty but quite large. Yes, this is more of a budget hotel compared to the other hotels in the area but even so at around $150-250/night the rooms leave much more to be desired. The “pools” and jacuzzis are not great. Jacuzzis felt like they haven’t been cleaned and were lukewarm instead of hot. On our arrival, the water was down and the property did not let us know in advance. We couldn’t shower or brush our teeth. When the water finally came back on there was no warm water and we were forced to take a cold shower. Pretty unacceptable to be honest. Manager didn’t really seem bothered about it and offered to waive the resort fee which was only $7/night anyways. Parking is another lackluster experience requiring $25/day to park your own car in their garage. Sundial states the parking is owned by another company so they don’t get to control those prices. I would not come back to the sundial, there is much better value for your dollar out there in park city.
Generally never disappointed. We stay there Every time we want to stay in park city area.
Booked a room for our anniversary in August. When we checked in, they told us they had no free parking for guests!! What?? Nope-it’s been taken over by a third party so it cost 50$ to park for 2 days. I’m a travel agent, and other than Hawaii and a couple places near Disney this was a first for me! Nothing about the extra costs on the website either. The room was ok but the air conditioning was out. So for 2 days during the “heat dome” which was between 92-100 degrees we had no ac. Literally couldn’t sleep and slept in a puddle. Also no fan in the room. When we told the front desk she said, “oh really-huh. Ok well thanks” ??? Great customer service Sundial!!? So do we recommend? Nope. ?
